URS Inc. Excite Program: SO EXCITING!

It is undeniable that through the leaps and bounce of science and technology in our society, people must be able to go to the flow of new innovations especially in the field of teaching. Teachers must be the first and foremost have the knowledge of this advancement to enhance their teaching techniques and strategies that will excite their students learning experiences.
I was very lucky indeed when I was chosen to attend a seminar entitled   " EXCITE " (Enhancement and Expansion of Capability in Information Technology and English ) in URS (University of Rizal System ), Morong, Rizal from October 24 to 28.
Mam Donna & Mam Susan in Basic I.T.
The seminar is divided into three module and one of it is Exploring I.T. ( Information Technology ) Intermediate, which I attended.  In this module we where taught of using the Microsoft Excel and how to create a Blog. I admit that I'm not an 'excel user' because I find it hard to manipulate formulas and equations etc. and also to encode data especially numbers. This negative thought of mine was erased during the entire discussion of Microsoft Excel. Our lecturer, Mr. Fernan Natividad, is very patient  in imparting all his knowledge about the topic and I was really motivated to learn because he did his explanations in the most unhurried and easiest way.  Microsoft Excel is indeed very useful to us teachers especially in computing grades because it will make the computations easier and  make the mountain of data more manageable.

In the fourth day of the seminar, we tackled internet, web and blog. We were taught to create our own blog and I find it really interesting because it can be an excellent way of sharing knowledge within the society. Blog can be a useful tool in teaching and learning since it can be a channel between the teachers and their students. It can be a fun way learning through interaction that enhances the communicative skills of the students. It makes learning independent of time and place or I can say it creates a borderless classroom.

To cap it all, applying this Information Technology in teaching does not only benefit the teachers  in making their work easier but it really aids in cultivating the students desire for learning. It helps improve the students writing or communicative competencies and most of all, it encourages us to continuously try things out.  ISN'T THAT EXCITING?

It is true that we should be computer literate in this I.T. Age...no exemption... I'm glad that seminars like these are being impart to our educators to strengthen and broaden their knowledge and in return will be impart to their students. I myself know little about excel and blogging and quite interested in this kind of seminars and hoping that such seminars will also be shared to layperson like me... I praise URS Inc. for making seminars like this possible and congratulate all the Educators who attend this session... ANHS Teachers...especially Teacher Dapheen.... More power to you All...
